So I have like no time to write, because of all the fantastic emails you sent me and pictures! If I had time I would write all of you in response individually! But I shall send snail mail which will be outdated and lame by the time you get it. Again, blame the Lord for not seriously considering sending me to Hawaii....

Ok, So I know I have complained just a tad in my previous letters...and you would too if you were in a place where while you were showering saw cockroaches staring at you. But here are some bonuses I have found to the Philippines A) The people are really nice! No one is shunning me which is a bonus. More like amazed with my height! B) I can reach all the fruit and berries on the trees that the rest of the general population cannot reach c) I am going to have fantastic tan arms when I return D) The filipino people have the multiply and replenish commandment down, so I don't have to worry about teaching that one :)

Food of the Week: Balout ok, this is the first food I didn't try. My digestive system can only take so much, and my taste buds are starting to malfunction due to the tastelessness of rice. Balout.. oh my how to even describe. It's basically chicken eggs that are part way along its gestation period (don't know if thats the right term) So from anywhere to 0-20 days old/developed they cook it and eat it. It's like eating a partially formed chicken. DISGUSTING! I kindly refused that one.

Story of the week: So my companion is trying to help me teach more, only sometimes she randomly turns to me to teach and I have no idea or haven't practiced the subject. For example- teaching the 10 commandments "thou shalt not commit adultery" She turns to me....uh......."explain Sister Jensen" Right " Hindi maramie asawa. isalong" which translates directly " no many wives, only one" yep the investigator laughed so it was all good. Like I know how to explain that in Tagalog. Good times! I'm still just smiling and nodding pretending to know what the crap people are saying. One day I will know. They say "Don't worry the gift of tongues will help you" What they don't tell you is that you have to work your butt off for it and that in the meantime you are going to be completely lost in a foreign country!

So I have survived one month in the Philippines! It has been the longest month of my life and I tell myself that next month must surely go faster. We shall see! I still mostly testify, oh and "share". My companion randomly tells me 1 min before, "your sharing" Ok. They say "follow the spirit and what it tells you" I'll be honest, most of the time I say "ok what can I BS today...I mean "how can the spirit guide my BSing..."" Not joking....I am getting really good at BSing with the spirit...haha! At least its scriptural BSing right? Anywho I would say more but time is not my advocate. I love you all and Miss you SOOO much!

S Emilee Jensen

I have been here at least a year right??? I love reading them and look forward to them every week! They're seriously the highlight of my week! I am sooo excited for a package that I probably wont get for another month, but still! I hope it doesn't cost a ton to send it to me, but then again my last name is Jensen so it probably will be. Blame Heavenly Father for that one and not sending me to some place like Hawaii or even Arizona would be awesome! It sounds like everyone is having fun at home and partying it up with Heather (I am jealous)!

So this has seriously been the longest freaking almost month of my life. If my entire mission drags on like this I am in trouble and I may just get on home early. For I am not a priesthood holder and technically am not commanded to be here. Heres the thing, everyone glorifies missions and how great and wonderful they are. The greatest time of their life. Again, if this is the greatest time of my life count me out and find me some major drugs to consume. I'm trying to do the whole "lose yourself in the work thing" but it isn't working out all that well. I'm getting more use to the craziness of this place. Not liking the whole being a missionary part. I'll be honest I absolutely hate tagalog, I don't like studying it, I don't like trying to speak it. It's kicking me in the butt and my learning curve is equivalent to that of molasses. I've tried to memorize some lines in the lesson etc. But when I use them again my companion tells me I need to change it to meet the needs of the investigator. then I tell myself "ok change it up Emilee" Well lets see....how many ways can you say "god loves you" well one....wait..."god loves all of us" ok two! REALLY?!?! I'm drawing blanks here. Oh and when we share scriptures I'm supposed to BS for like 20 min on one scripture. Ok, first off I am not one for BSing I can explain things in 5 min or less. plus you add tagalog and its even shorter. Anywho one day I'll like it here and not be lost. As for now I am mostly quiet and keep to myself. I live with 4 sisters total in the apt and I just don't have a whole lot to say…especially in tagalog. So I don't say anything.

This weeks adventure was we were locked out of our apt! We had to wait for the other sisters to come. It was kind of a blessing is disguise because we were able to go to lunch at jolibee (the filipno equivalent to McDonalds) and have ice cream!!! Oh how much I seriously love ice cream! I also had my first Zone conference which was good...and long. from 8-3. We had workshops etc. I had to speak about "our purpose as a missionary" in front of everyone and give an experience. Heres the thing, I'm supposed to have all these experiences when I honestly don't know whats going on each day. Needless to say I lasted a grand total of 1 min which made the congregation laugh. The best part of zone conference was I got mail~!!!! And yes dearelder works and I think its free~!!!! So use it! I got Clarissas and Cyds letters! THANKS! I'm sending out snail mail today so fam you should get it and those who wrote me...in like a month. :)

So here we walk alll the time but we also get to ride tricycles. Which is basically a honda dirt bike with a caboose on the side. They are pretty sweet. They also have jeepnies here which is like a van without back doors and two long benches on each side. I am a fan! Everyone rides them here. Oh food of the week: shrimp with everything intact...yea. that was fun!

I would write more but my time is running out! I love you all and miss you SOOO much!!! Have a great day!!!

S. They are the highlight of my week! I would seriously write you all personally back but I am stuck with only 30 min, which 15 I spend reading. So I really only have 15 min to type like there is no tomorrow!

So the first evil thing of the Philippines is doing laundry by hand, its purely evil. It took me 3 hrs to do laundry last week. You have to scrub and rinse everything by hand. Pure torture, so when you complain about laundry in the states be glad you have a machine. I vow never to be without one again in my life after the mission.

Even morning I wake up and wonder "how the crap did I end up here?" I’ve always wondered why didn’t anyone tell sleeping beauty "hello don’t touch sharp objects?" Why didn’t someone tell me "what the crap are you thinking? the Philippines?" I’m sure mom probably tried and I just didn’t listen. I know you probably are expecting mass amounts of spiritual goodness, well as you all know I’m not good at making up bull crap. Missionary work is just that, WORK. We walk and walk and a lot of the people aren’t home so we keep on walking until we find someone. I’m sure I would have grand experiences to tell you if I knew what people are saying. But alas I have NO idea! So I just smile and nod pretending to know what they are saying and testify. I have memorized some lines in tagalog that I repeat but then my companion reminds me "don’t just memorize lines you, need to meet the needs of the investigator." that would be great IF I KNEW WHAT THE CRAP THEY WERE. Then comes the "rely on the spirit to tell you" My spirit isn’t that great of a translator or I just really don’t get the message. Either way I’m still lost in the crazy hot place. In the MTC you are in rooms where its nice and carpeted and quiet, but in the field --totally different. We teach outside a lot with dogs and cats and lizards and chickens running around. Little children everywhere staring at me. You know, strong spiritual atmosphere...yea right.

This week the crazy food was snails, I only tried one, it was just like a mushroom which I don’t really like. Still don’t really like the food. One day I’ll get used to it. They fry everything, whole little fishes that are mostly bones anyway. I miss American food so much. There is a place called Jollibee that has french fries and ice cream. I was in heaven!

My companion is great and very nice. I still have no idea what the crap people are saying. I'm not getting much better at the language. I am just getting used to not knowing what people are saying! First off if you love me PLEASE PLEASE send me like sams club size peanut and peanut butter M&Ms....you could throw in some kit-katbigkats or take 5! (mission home address) CHOCOLATE PLEASE!!! Even if it melts on the way here it's ok because I have a fridge! BOOYA! I am seriously missing chocolate, you don't even know~ oh and if you send it (well I would like to say WHEN and SOON) you must use MASS amounts of tape or put it in a Tupperware because I'm told by the elders the rats will eat it...yea. Food is definitely not good here. RICE RICE RICE EVERY meal. So sick of rice and its only been 2 weeks. Pretty sure I had pigs liver...and this disgusting drink that was brown that looked like floating fat in it with little bead circles that look kinda like fish eggs. Its only been two weeks and I have learned to not ask anymore. I really miss real food.....maybe eventually I will like it! However, there is cereal and milk here! Of course its expensive, well ok normal American price which for the poor missionary is expensive. I really hate being the poor missionary, already thinking I'm going to screw that idea and use my personal funds once I figure how to get access to them.

So the crazy story of the week is we had a Relief Society thingy fathers day. For the dinner they literally put all the food on tables and gave us baggies and everyone just went at it from the table. It was a Utah Relief Society President nightmare. It was crazy thats how they do it. I had to hurry before the food was gone and place it in my baggie. Weird! Something awesome this week was we had the Cebu temple dedication broadcast! It was awesome and in English~ So cool the temple is gorgeous! It was awesome to listen to Prophet Monson talk and I thoroughly enjoyed the air-conditioned building! It was the highlight for sure of my week! Then afterward I didn't know what we were doing and my companion said "going to a funeral" seriously thought she was joking. She wasn't…I still don't know who died but there was free food! Interesting!

My companion is great and super sweet. I live with 3 sisters. Oh our shower is 1 ft from the toilet, not joking! So weird and people here don't use toilet paper, they have a bucket of water...gross. So I bring TP with me everywhere! This place is crazy! I wish I knew what people are saying....one day I will. So I haven't been writing snail mail because I don't know how to send it yet. It's more work to try and figure things out here…I'll ask eventually. Just so you know don't be expecting anything! Well I love you all and miss you so much! I hope you are all doing well at home! Love you all and MISS YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW! BAHHHHHH!

S. So I will give you key points! It was awesome to talk to all of you during my travels. Talking on the phone was basically the only thing that kept me sane during the long flights. Overall I flew 20 ish nish hours not including layovers! It took forever and I was always placed in outer darkeness by some asian that couldn't speak english while all the other missionaries were together. Don't ask why, hindi ko alam ( I don't know) Taipie was cool, hello kitty everything and everyone purchased souvenirs which I thought was stupid because it's all the same "made in Taiwan" crap only airport pice. OH and everyone was taking pictures of us because we are white. Anywho once we finally arrived to the Philippines I was ok...until you walk outside, Oh my immediate sweating and HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT HOT! Don't think I can emphasize that one enough. Everyone again was staring at us. We met up with church people and they sent us on our way.

Don't worry- the roads are crazy and I feared for my life. I don't see why they even waste time painting lines for no one follows them. I spent the first night at the MTC in Manila which is super small right across the street from the Manila temple which is gorgeous. We (the 4 of us left) were there but didn't really have anything to do. I had been awake like 40 hrs or something at that point and was dead tired. Everyone there wanted a picture with us because A) I am white and tall B) Elder Mitchell is tall and black. That night my room had sister Mongolian missionaries that didn't speak english. O so fun!

We left the next day 4AM to Olongapo. My mission president and his wife are way nice. They may be sending you pics and I stand out sooo SOOO BAD! Its ridiculous. I am a head above everyone else and I am the only white person for some reason the whole "I'm soo tall I'll stand out" I knew but the "You are going to be the ONLY white person for miles" didn't quite cross my mind until that point. We had orientation etc then met our companions. I am with Sister Suminguit, yes Filipino, she is super sweet and knows a lot of English! BONUS! However I am SO LOST it's not even funny. I really do try to follow what people are saying but I have absolutely no idea and I hate it. I am in the Apollo area and my first night we went straight to work. The mosquitoes love my foreign blood and our first investigator was literally in a hut. steel roof, cardboard walls, and a dirt floor. Not joking, it's super poor here and all I can think of is the mass amounts of microbes that are around and I have used mass amounts of sanitizer.

Did I mention I take de-worming pills every 6 mos.. Anywho the joy. The Philippines is crazy and I kinda don't like it much now because everyone stares and me and little kids like to touch my skin because it's white. The Filipino people are very nice and some know a bit of English. My first night was well just crazy. Those movies that have the missionaries in nice apts teaching or homes with carpets....lies. Your better off here if you have tile. Most places have dirt floors with chickens, cats, and dogs running around. It's like going back in time, only no matter how poor you are most people have 1 TV in their hut. Some have cell phones which throws you off. Random note: Miley Cyrus even plagues the Philippines :( Oh the second day we did serve and they decided to have chicken for lunch. Don't worry they just caught the live chicken and let the missionaries slit the throat and let the blood drain.....yea. Oh and the next day we ate at a members house and we used our fingers. I felt like I was breaking all society rules. Oh and added bonus the fish was literally looking at me while I ate it….I want a hamburger and fries o so badly.

I know they say that a mission is the best 2 yrs/18 mos of your life but if this is honestly true I hope the Lord spares me and lets me skip on over to paradise. It's hot humid and I have no idea what anyone is saying. I am so lost. Hopefully its gets better with time. Right now, not the greatest place on earth. I love you and I miss you all soooo much! I hope you are enjoying your AC and carpeted floors! Today is my P-day (Monday) which is Sunday for all of you at home. Miss you all much I would tell you more but alas limited time!

S Emilee Jensen

I'm leaving on a Jet plane.. Yes- thats right, the day has finally arrived where I get to fly out for hours on end! I am sooo very excited! I also get to call you today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! o yea! I don't know if I'll have time to write snail mail, but I figure calling you is so much better! I am leaving the MTC an hour earlier now! I am leaving here at 3:30 I'm happy about it because that is one more hour of talkage time!

The last week here at the MTC has been great! I had my last interview with my teacher and he asked "How is the MTC?" I responded " pinkiamybuti" meaning SUPER good. he replied "bakit? (why)" I told him because I only had a few more days left! Don't get me wrong the MTC has been a growing experience and I have meet some awesome people! I am going to miss my district because we have become like family literally. Let just say 2 months is enough for a life time! I am off for harder adventures in the field. I have a 90% chance of having a native companion. Whether or not she will speak English is an unknown...shoot! Adventure no? Oh don't worry I savored my last shower. For in the Philippines- bucket showers. Oh and I am doing my last load of laundry via machine. Retro bucket laundry when I get there as well! Who needs modern conveniences? Not I...:)

Really this week has been full of excited fun and spending more money that I should. Dad I bought 3 SD cards, 4 gigs each. I followed what you said. Also I have purchased MASS amounts of junk food for the flight and people think I'm crazy. Little do they know the pain of flying for more than 15 hours at a time. I will miss my district and my awesome teachers Bro. Molina and Bro. Buckner. I will not miss the dark hairs in the showers from the internationl missionaries or the BYU pride that is sickening here. Every time I say I would NEVER go to BYU I get looks of disbelief and horror as if I've committed myself to outer darkness! Its has been a letter feast!!! LOVE IT! So the major highlight of the week was, well, and week ago today! I received your packages!!!!!!!! OH MY HOW EXCITED WAS I?!?!?! It really was like Christmas. And yes I opened moms package in the bathroom so the girls couldn't see…I recorded it as well! O yea! Mother the bags you made...STUNNING!!! They were all amazing and I wanted to keep them all to myself and be selfish! First off I deemed it "Merry more than mid-pt MTC missionary experience" aka Christmas! I placed each bag in a different box and we literally opened them like Christmas. The girls absolutely freaked out and screamed for a good 30 min! They were all so excited and everyone loved the bag they received. I recorded the first 5 minutes of this so you shall see via real life! It was soooo much fun! Thank you so much mom they were all amazing and they all now think that I have the coolest mother ever which is true. Also you are kinda the talk of the entire floor. "so whose mom was it that made all the bags?" I get asked from sisters I don't even know. Basically you're amazing and all the sisters in my district agree that you could have you own shop and make millions because they beat Vera Bradly bags by far! Mom I wrote you a letter with more details, but basically it was the funnest night of the MTC! All the girls loved them and you made their, well, month! Again ALL WERE AMAZING!!!! You shall see pictures and videos! Oh speaking of that I have a question: AND PLEASE ANSWER I have asked countless questions and sent out individual emails maybe you don't get them but it seems my email questions fall on deaf ears and I never get an answer ( i will re-ask the important ones at the end of the email) What shall I do for pictures? I tried burning them on a disk but I guess the only one that burn are the pictures you actually print out and I don't want to print out all 200 of them! I also have videos etc. Should I send the SD card back and forth? Should I get (aka you send) me another one to switch off? Just wait until the end of the mish and you can get everything at once? I don't know what to do with that one. We'll see if the disk I did today works. I should get it tomorrow but from what I'm told the disk will have a total of 17 pics that I printed on it./....lame.

So another highlight of the week.....ready for this? JEFFERY R HOLLAND! He came and talked to us and it was basically amazing because you can't fall asleep during him because he is sooo powerful! He chewed us out a little about obedience but it was awesome!~ We also had Anne Dibb for RS (the prophets daughter) Anywho we were able to ask any question about the prophet and one girl asked what his normal day was like. Guess what he does at the end of every day??~?~ He watches PERRY MASON! yep dad I totally thought of you. You are that much closer to prophetic qualities~!~ Crazy cool no?

This week I was able to Host a sister (ie take a new sister from drop off and show her where to go) yes that is how long I've been here I get to show the newbies what to do. But guess what? I got to host Jessica Clark (who I graduated with, best HS friends) pretty awesome, I was was excited to see her~!

Story of the week (ish my stories decline as time continues) But in class we now have the ZLs (zone leaders) anywho we were suppose to look up scriptures about Adam and Eve that we haven't used and put them on the board. So go to the index right? Look up Adam. standard search. Well I got there about to tell my companion what to write and the zone leader had written "adam- Index" and said that "it included all the scriptures listed" So I respond "excellent. Sister Bruington write Book of Mormon" Anywho the other classmates gave me looks of "you seriously just said that" I thought it was awesome. That zl drives me nuts and tries to teach over the teacher because he should be in the field and know a grand total of two weeks more info than the rest of us. One day "blah blah blah just saying' --I'm not in charge" I respond " TRUE!" the teacher gave me a half smile for a which would mean he was accepting my behavior. Ya sorry thats it for the week!

Oh shoot running out of time! So the reason for the heading! I taught the lesson for sunday school and it was on knowledge! I did really well I think but I compared the gospel to butane, only slightly geeky right? You know build precept upon precept, I said one element at a time and I drew the whole structure out and said how once you know every element you can simplify it into ch3ch2ch2ch2ch3 it was rather brilliant. I think most of the class got it....ha ha!

Well I love you all and I would write more but time is running thin! This week flew by so fast and not a whole lot has happened. Oh, our cousin Jeffery Jensens plans got changed so instead of flying to Japan Wed, he's flying well...now. I saw him rushing to do his laundry because they told him a whole 6 hrs in advance! Awesome! Lets see....

We are now the oldest district of all the tagalog speakers...uh yea still don't know a whole lot of tagalog! I can pray and testify o yea! Think that will get me far? Hopefully! 3 members of the district leaving this week are crippled ( ie had to have surgeries etc) So three elders are going to be joining our district, don't worry all three of them are the zone leaders...o the joy. Can you tell how excited I am?! Wow.

For relief society we had the opportunity to listen to Sheri Dew! The one who is the CEO of Deseret book and has written all those books you see there. Mom, I think you would have liked it for she actually has a brain and uses it! It was pretty cool!

Oh so randomly I guess the elders ranked the sisters based on intellectual level. I tied for first place with Sister Bruington ha ha funny! I also used the word "platonically" As in " oh I love that elder...platonically." Don't worry I had to explain to sis B what it meant and to some of the elders. Is platonic really that big of a word? I think it should be standard dictionary level. Anywho, interesting the majority of the class didn't know what it meant.

I am SERIOUSLY racking my brain of things to inform you….I am drawing serious blanks. I made it to Alma in the scriptures and I'm 100 pages into Jesus the Christ. Bored yet? Wait- thats what I do everyday~!~ ha ha finally made it through PMG lesson 4, the commandments lesson plans. Did I tell you how much I hate doing lesson plans? They are so annoying you just have to summarize everything, find scriptures which I mark in my scriptures anyway. Basically I never look at my lesson plans twice. But no worries, my teachers say its a commandment to do them....anyone know that scriptures reference "and the Lord said all missionaries shalt make lessons plans for their own well being and good" shoot snap crackle....pop

The companionship is doing well. We have awesome parties with milk and oreos every night. Oh and we have microwaves so the ability to pop popcorn is endless. We are the only 3 in our room which is amazing (each room and max capacity of 6 sisters) our room is clean compared to other sisters where it looks like a bomb went off!

I am sorry this email is short...for the work never really changes and the elders...well maintain their standard maturity level. Yesterday we had the opportunity to enter the "real world" Sister Muaror lost her glasses and basically international missionaries get whatever they want so we got to take a shuttle to the eye doctor! We were so excited who would of thought the eye doctor could be so much fun? Anywho she got new glasses and everything while there so we were stuck there for a few hours and didn’t get the chance to email! But alas they let us on today because they know the importance of families not thinking their children had a heart attack and died at the MTC from all the processed food.
So ready for this? The I Spy with my little eye title has a purpose Guess:
-Someone with a grand total of 9 letters in their name
-Someone who is of Peter, James, and John status
-Someone who is actually smiling in their official picture...
Any Idea??????
The Answer: L. Tom Perry! O YEA! We had a devotional and he was the speaker. I was a good 9 rows from him which was pretty awesome. So I have now seen a quorum of the twelve. Pretty cool that was one of the highlights of the week! He gave an awesome testimony of the aklat ni mornon (book of mormon) for those who were wondering it was fantastic! Peter James and John status booya!
So interesting things of the week....Our room has become the headquarters for those sisters undertaking the infamous "diet" It’s really quite funny because I am the twig who cannot sympathize at all ( and mind you none of these sisters are strongly overweight) So they talk about their "food addictions" and I try and contribute by saying "o ya I’m addicted to chocolate..although you cannot tell." Don’t think I’m much help ha ha. Although I will note I have gained 2 lbs, this for me momentous! WOOT! Our room is also the place where sisters "vent" about their kosamas (companions) I guess our companionship exudes happiness and joy so others come for reassurance that this too shall pass and that they wont be with their current kosamas forever. ha ha, I am glad for my companions we all really get along. Some of the other sisters going to the Philippines I think I would of died being with 24/7...(Note: we are all children of God....some just need much, much more work towards perfections than others)
Story of the week I will try am simplify (they get more dull and time continues) I was in charge of assigning the handbook (all the rules written: don’t dress like a slut, boys hair short, be in bed at 10:30 otherwise you will be damned etc etc) the prayer and the spiritual thought. I had a rotating system (our names are on the board and I would move the arrows saying what your in charge of) Well little miss spiritual high often would say "I have a spiritual thought I would like to say" whether her turn or not. I thought whatever glad the spirit prompts you often. This lead to a lack of her reading the handbook. Anywho she is beside the Zone leaders and told them that the system didn’t work which then lead to them telling the district leader when then lead to my demotion and not allowance to touch the board. No only the district leader can touch it. HA HA HA HA HA REALLY? Elder Mitchell said that’s so stupid. My response" I don’t give a rats a" it was rather funny and we just laughed. Everything must be even and in order for the spirit to dwell among some.... :) Hope that story made some sense...
Let’s see....I’m now senior sister. Don’t worry that wasn’t inspired my name just happened to be next in the alphabet. (even though an elder tried to explain how you are senior sister for a reason and your name is what it is for a reason so you can be the senior sister. ha ha I laughed out loud)
I think that’s all for this week....the studies continue and we are hit with the spirit stick until senseless!
Love you all and miss you much~ Thanks for all the dear elders and letter! LOVE IT!
S Emilee Jensen

If reverse peristalsis of goals were possible

Kumusta po Kayo Pamilia? On wed I will have been here an entire month! One month of the impenetrable mormon bubble in the happy death valley! That is something that deserves a medal. And I've kept my sanity for the most part!

So the story of the week which isn't all the great is of the infamous ZONE LEADER. One of the Zone leaders had to come into our district to talk about goal setting and how where we learn is a temple so you must not sit on the floor or eat food in the classroom. No worries, for when Sister Bruington received some brownies went across the hall into the bathroom and promptly ate them. Are you aware that even the temple has a cafeteria? Anywho, the story- The zone leader walks in tot tell us the dedicatory prayer on the building then looks at our goals written on the board "ONLY 20 words a week...Reverence? How are you going to measure that...This goal is weak" etc etc. Not one syllable of positivity was said. So after destroying every goal ever created he asked "So what are your personal goals?" Waiting response from the audience I respond "You expect ME to tell YOU my personal goals so you can destroy them one by one? I'm just being honest." Yes again I was the only one willing to stand up to the 19yr old beloved zone leader who must have a higher spiritual ranking. Don't worry it wasn't awkward for long because the spiritual high sister willingly sacrificed her personal goals. In the mission you have personal goals, companion goals, language goals, district goals. weekly goals and daily goals. If I could vomit goals I would have done so. I don't run on the goal system but here you must and you get to the point where you have so many goals you can't keep track and your caring of actually reaching them declines daily.

Another moment was in class we were all spiritual trying to come up with ways to describe the spirit world to investigators. I said "The spirit world is like waiting in a elevator. You wait with random music playing until resurrected then God judges you and he either hits the button that sends you up to heaven or pushes one that sends you down to hell." Not many got it, Elder Mitchell did but I thought it was rather creative~!!

I know kinda sad that these are the main stories of the week. Something interesting is that there are currently 4 Sister Jensens going to the Philippines. Oh and don't worry I am the SHORTEST one! One beat me by .5 inches the other 1inch and the last 3 inches. (I'm 5' 11" for those who wish to do the math) Makes me wonder if they go alphabetically when they assign and just went Sister Jensen, Sister Jensen, Sister Jensen, Sister Jensen…oh we need peeps in the Philippines Next sister Johnson etc. ha ha jk.

The saddest new of the day that makes the church semi-true for the moment is I don't get to call on mothers day because I am in the MTC. LAME! So you won't hear from me until...well hopefully the airport. Lets see...the language. Uh, is there such as thing as language regression? Because that is how I feel. Everything is Yoda style when talking and nothing translates directly. I'll be honest I am completely lost and the class is far surpassing me. I remain at the bottom of the fish tank watching other receive a smidgen of fish food floating at the top. (gift of tongues in the instance) My envy for english speaking has skyrocketed.

I hope you are all having fun in the real world! This week was a letter feast and I LOVED it! For all those who send me snail mail and dear elders keep it going. Also you all should be receiving snail mail from me ( you know who you lucky souls are) Have a great day! Did you all receive my two envelopes containing 6 letters, three of which were to be forwarded???? Heather you should have one and well every member of the fam... Did you later receive some pictures the following day??!?!?! I haven't heard anything back after I sent them I know it's snail mail but I'm hoping I didn't put them in the wrong blue box to be sent... Hopefully you all received them because I wrote 10 letters last week ( I know, trust me, my hand hurt afterward) But I love receiving mail. This week mail has been a famine but that's ok because the week before was a feast so I'm hoping we keep this pattern and this week becomes a feast!

To answer Dads question: Yes I can only look at email and send them on Mondays. As far as snail mail I receive it every night except Sunday (our district has to wait until 9:25 every night because we are lame and other districts get it right when it comes around noon) and yes I can read it the day I get it. Also dearelder.com is Mon-Fri and I can read that as soon as I get it as well. Just the Email I can only read Mondays. I technically can only write snail mail on Mondays as well...

To be honest nothing exciting happened this week. I took full advantage of sleeping during Relief Society this week. I hate how you can't even have power naps and not have others think you are going to be thrust down to Hell. At least they get power naps in Hell :) My companions are good, S. Bruington is the center of the humor for the class room because of her southern accent and her overall loud personality. Not many people get my jokes which is fine, all the more fun for me! Sis Muaror is actually talking to us more and she is super sweet She tends to forget things which is fine. Did I mention how both of them are 5' 4" and curvy and I just tower over them like a beanstalk. Its quite funny.

The only thing noteworthy that happened was at Lunch on Sunday, the food wasn't all the great so I said " O yea, its ok, tonight I'm getting ice cream out of the vending machine" A sister who is very well...dominant in her opinions started " the vending machines on Sunday…" But my evil glare of don't even go there shut her up pretty fast. So question of the week: Will using a vending machine on Sunday cause you to be the ultimate sinner?

So I hope you received my pictures. I will try and give the rundown of my district so you can imagine the characters I am with too many hours of the day!

Sister Hancock: She is a wonderful spiritual daughter of God….and sometimes gets on my nerves because if one moment is spent in laughter we don't have the "spirit" to guide us. Ever think the spirit has a sense of humor? He can't be completely dull. She is really good with her scriptures and is often touched by the spirit resulting in silent tears.

Sister Cluff: She is from Idaho and loves acting. I like to think of him as a teeter-totter either hilarious or beyond annoying. He is always asleep during class. I sit next to him so when its his turn to read I have the guilty pleasure of poking him until awake. The best is when he annoys sister Hancock because he's disruptive. o yea.

Elder Naulu: From Australia as well, he is quiet but when he does bust out of his shell-- hilarious.

Elder Roxas: From Cali, he is the district leader so he tries to always set the good mormon missionary example.

Elder Judd: The most mature one, he's older. Also I have a cold thing so if it doesn't make sense I blame it on that. No worries. I have faith and AIRBORNE! YEA!

So I will be honest as I always am. I don't love the MTC I know missionaries say how great and wonderful it is...blah blah the spirit is so strong, nothing else seems to matter...this must be mostly the english stateside missionaries because on my end-HARD FREAKING WORK! The language is the hardest thing ever and I just try to memorize as much as possible, but when you are in class all day and are only given 1 hr a day to work on language out of class...my memorizational skills are rather minimal and I find myself more and more behind. I try not to worry I'll be forced to have a native companion when out in the field so I'll have to get it eventually... Bring on the gift of tongues baby!

So at the MTC you find that Sunday is the greatest day ever. Not because of church (which is a bonus but honestly church is all week long) but because lots of personal "study" time and you get to go on a temple walk and take mass amounts of pictures. Then in the evening we watch a movie (Joseph Smith Restoration etc. guess even Disney is a little to Riskay here) I break wait...bend the rules and write letters during movie times.

The companions are super nice....its just estrogen overload times two 24-7!! I have now come to find that when sis. Bruington isn't talking while in the halls she is singing random, unknown, never should have been composed, tunes. It's ok, I have excellent blocking out skills. As for Sis Muaror she is sooooo quiet I have no idea what is going on in her head, but she is really nice and opens door etc. for us. She just got her first email from her fam today so I think hopefully she will be happier in the future!

So here are some of the highlights of the week: (yes some of them sad to be considered highlights)

~ Teaching Sister Bruington (who is from the South) what the KKK is

~ Conversation District Leader " We cant pray until 9:25" My Response " So your saying unless the prayer starts at exactly 9:25 the Lord will reject it?" And trust me if you witnessed the spirit overload and was considering the fact that weed may be grown unknowingly somewhere due to the "high" of spirit you would be cursing as well. It was super OVERWHELMING!

Do you remember how we talked about how having 2 companions would suck? Yea I shouldn't talk, three I know now by experience is definitely a crowd. So I landed with two companions One Sister Bruington she is from Rocky Mountain, Virginia. She has an excellent southern accent. She is super sweet and hasn't received the gift of tongues yet but the gift of talking... definitely. Just like the energizer bunny she keeps going and going and going, but she is super sweet like your unknown southern mother. My other companion Sister Mauror is from Sydney, Australia she has a pretty sweet accent as well. I am the odd one out being from Utah and mostly accentless. Sister Mauror is very nice and quiet. I already told her that she holds the keys to my eternal salvation, for when we return home she is to find me a hot Australian to marry! YEA! So the biggest downside to a threesome companionship is take the normal bathroom breaks times three, and yes, we must sit outside the bathroom door or go with them. Yesterday I kept track...7 times I waited for them. But I still love them, God must of just given them smaller bladders than I.

General Conference...6 hours of hard seats. It was good but I will admit I took full advantage of the fact that it was the only time I could take a nap and not get in trouble. All the other elders were dozing, passing snacks, and playing with rubiks cubes so I figured, at least I took some notes! Jeffery R. Holland was my fav, way to be bold, loved it! I found the major theme to be parenting the youth not to do stupid things. Glad I haven't multiplied and replenished yet. While the elders had priesthood the girls couldn't be left to eat, drink contraband Dr. Pepper, and be merry so we had to listen to the general YW meeting…gag me. Women just add sooo much fluff to everything, but Uchtdorf did amazing. Don't worry Dad I gained a little more appreciation for General Conference, but I definitely prefer it in my Pjs while eating cereal.

The food here...yea I am already sick of it. Its not horrible but just imagine school lunch every meal everyday. You would think with personal prayer, companion prayer, and class prayer plus all the elders who pray once they sit down to eat their food (I witnessed an elder blessing their water) the food would maybe be better than mana from heaven...false. But alas they have cold cereal and chocolate milk...just like college I will survive!

Tagalog....yep kicking me in the butt. Everyone around me is super excited but all I keep thinking is how hard and how much this is going to suck. I know, faith, trust in the lord, work hard etc. easier said than done. The gift of tongues maybe latent in my case. When I know more I'll type some to you.

My district actually has more sisters than elders which is unheard of. 5 girls to 4 boys. I really like my district and the other sisters are the ones that are "spiritually high" As in are always reading scriptures or being productive when some of us get side tracked...its ok for the moment "spiritual medium-well" is working for me....it will make it the the MTC "high' eventually. So far I am the ONLY person going to Olongapo…I haven't meet anyone else. Supposedly its a super small mission and there may be a grand total of 3 american sisters there now.

So MONDAYS are my Pdays and I have 30 mins to type as much as possible. Also there is a system call dearelder.com It's free and if you send me a message though that by noon I get it the same day. I strongly encourage this even if you only send me one line. Then I will look more loved when the district leader gives the mail out to everyone :)

I love you all and miss you much!

Sister Jensen

To My Nonexistent Audience

It's approaching…March 31st that date that seemed a long way off…try two weeks. What is the significance of this date? Well I enter the MTC. Do I have the personality of a sister missionary? Ha ha No. Am I brutally honest? Yes. Sarcastic? Yes. Am I one to give my testimony in sacrament? No. Did I picture myself going on a mission? No. Before I always thought that is was the ugly girls that couldn’t get married at the Mormon age of 19 that went on missions. This I know is false. I like to think I’m not ugly, but that is a matter of opinion. Now the couldn’t get married part…slightly true in the sense that my dating life is virtually nonexistent at best, but that is partly my fault. I definitely spend way too much time in the library but school is one constant besides the gospel. Boys come and go but my GPA and hard work stick with me.

Sometimes I wonder why I’m premed. While I’m stuck in Ochem lab trying to figure of chemical compositions and where electrons are transferring my girlfriends are hanging out because their sewing lab is well over. Its not that I don’t have the capability or the brain power, but it’s not what I truly want. An education yes a career no. I want my education to be the back up plan incase my life takes a nose dive. What do I really want? The classic Mormon happily ever after which includes the tall man who will provide sufficiently and allow me to stay at home with what will be my gorgeous children. What factor is missing in this equation?! O shoot thats right…a male!

The entire species isn’t completely far gone, but a mass of the population didn’t benefit from natural selection. Idiots tend to hook up and breed more idiots. Not to say there aren’t equally as many idiotic females as males, but where are the ones with intellect? That’s the kicker question. Someone who actually has deductive capabilities. It is not the rich that im looking for Heaven knows I have only dated poor struggling students. Where is a man with a brain and has actually mastered how to use it? Although I don’t wish for a decreased intellectual level I can’t help but watch the bubbly airheaded girls who get asked out on countless dates and get married. I’m only 21 so I am definitely not over the hill for getting hitched, but I wouldn’t mind actually dating boys like the airheaded brainless population.

For the next 18 months guess I don’t have to worry about that one. On a mission I go, but am I 100% sure I’m suppose to go? I will be honest the answer is no. I know I will be able to influence others and hopefully bring light into their lives. I won’t be your standard missionary girl because I understand worldly matters more than others and I don’t refuse to look outside the Mormon bubble of isolation. So to my nonexistent audience know this: even though I don’t have the 100% assurance this is the exact path I should follow I AM doing this for the right reasons. I am not going to find a mate they are 19! If I really wanted one I would stay if heavily Mormon populated area, not the Philippines. I am not going because I am simply single. I am going because I hope I can truly make a difference and help someone in a way they never knew possible. Although I am scared and I don’t know what I’m going to face, I am not disillusioned that the mission will be easy. It won’t be easy ill be working my butt off, but I know a mission is a good thing and the Lord will help me every step of the way.

Through the Frosted Window

The Image is slightly blurred
And I am not completely sure

I can see what is happening here and now
But to see the future I honestly don’t know how

Beyond the frosted window only He can see
The truth beyond you and me

He can see crystal clear
What it is we are to endure

With this knowledge He can help guide me
All the way through eternity

Even during the times I cannot see
I must continue onward with faith unwavering

One thing that I truly know
I can’t go through this life completely alone

If I remember to rely on the one who can see through the frost
I will never be completely lost

Emilee N. Take my suggestions as you wish. Ill be honest my longest relationship with the opposite sex had yet to exceed 2 months.

FEMALES: Many have a tendency to have a grocery checklist of what they want potential prospects to have. This can be a good thing, but also may be used against you. Sometimes the checklist becomes so long its impossible to find anyone who could contain all those characteristics. How important is everything listed? Must they have green eyes and drive a nice car? Granted many of the qualities I like to call "added bonuses" if they have a decent job are taller than me etc, but these things should never be the core of what you are looking for. I have managed to minimize my list and here is what I think is most important.

1) Honor priesthood

2) Treat those around them with respect

3) Genuinely have a good heart

4) Hardworking

See? The lack of length does not make it less substantial. If he honors his priesthood going to church, having a testimony, etc. should follow. If he always treats those around him with respect, it is more probable he will treat you with respect. If he is truly a good person he wont lead you astray. I use to think that max education was a requirement, while I am not demeaning the value of a good education if he is hardworking he will be successful no matter what area. I know this list can be lengthened, but most of the rest is bull crap. Little things we make up for ourselves that don’t really matter in the long run.

MALES: I honestly cant give much on the guy perspective because I have yet to figure out their "simple" minds. What I can suggest is don’t look for perfection in girls. Looking for the ultimate wife who will cook, clean, and be a great mother to your posterity. This will only lead to disaster and you being alone for this mortal experience. Find someone with the potential to become perfect. Working together is the only way to accomplish this, and through that work you can become closer to perfection (you will never become perfect in this life that’s for sure). In order to find this its takes time and energy so my biggest suggestion? FREAKING ASK GIRLS OUT AND DATE!

Have you head the quote any two faithful LDS people can make it work? At first I didn’t know if I completely agreed with this statement. Sure it can work, but will you be happy? I thought that one person could make you happier than another person. This question posed much need to delve further into it. Where does true happiness come from? Christ to be short and blunt. Here is the conclusion I have come up with take it or leave it. Any two people can make it work and I also think you can reach max happiness with any faithful person. If both parties are working together though Christ then true happiness can be achieved. I think some couples it may take more work and effort than others, but if you willing to put forth the effort and some faith it will work.

Emilee N. We are folding hospital gowns for globus relief!” As students walked past, many with eyes focused downwards or iPods in their ears, our question fell on deaf ears. We were simply ignored. Students were in their own mental zone worrying about classes, the opposite sex, or what they were going to eat that day. Meanwhile, we had eight large boxes full of hospital gowns in need of folding, and yet students continued to bypass us as if we didn’t exist.
Normally, I was the student who always passed and ignored those asking for my assistance. I would tell myself that I didn’t have the time; I had assignments to do and exams to study for. I couldn’t possibly fit time in for service. Sometimes I would see people doing the service and feel guilty, but then I would remind myself of all that I had to do that day, and the guilt would slowly dissipate. This day was different because I was the one calling out to students to come help.
I spent the afternoon with the club Women in Medicine. We had from 9am-4pm to fold as many hospital gowns as possible. All gowns completed were to be sent to Africa. Some people folded the gowns while others packed them into white boxes. The gowns varied from plain scrub blue to a continuation of geometric shapes that made you want to vomit. As I thought of how ugly the gowns were I continued to fold them and came to the realization that the people in Africa don’t care what the gowns looks like. They were grateful just to have them. People in Africa need things as simple as hospital gowns. Things we just assume will be there when needed, other countries don’t even have!
I wasn’t able to see the people in Africa receive the hospital gowns, but I am sure it made a difference in their lives. I was only there for a few hours folding gowns, but it was great to know that in a small way I made a difference. Life at times is crazy and schedules often become overbooked, but if you take the time to aid someone other than yourself you’ll find that your day becomes ultimately better. There are people who do not have even the simple, daily necessities. Take the time to serve. Even if all you can allot for the day is ten minutes, you can still make a difference. Don’t be the student with downcast eyes, enveloped in their own problems. Take the iPod headphones out and find a way to help others.

What's New? Only 2 more years left!

So no boy updates. This was a record semester with 0 dates, which is fine because I spent all my time in the library studying ochem anyways.

SuMmEr PlAnS!!! For the happy time that is summer I am staying up in Logan. I got a job at Legacy House Assisted Living, working as CNA uncall. I’ve already managed to tork off the nurse by calling her on her cell that is only for medtechs, good thing that was the only number given me…gotta love the medical ladder! I am still looking for another CNA job, because PRN (as needed) is unpredictable hour wise

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://emileejensen.blogspot.com/2009/05/whats-new-not-whole-lot.html' title='What's New? Last semester I went on two whole dates with a boy. This semester one day he started texting me, turns out it was his birthday. Due to the fact that it was his birthday as a friend I just dropped off a cupcake at his apt with a note that said shockingly "Happy Birthday". One hour later he calls, main point of conversation, " Emilee I know we went on a few dates (only 2 keep in mind) and I think you are a great girl and there is nothing wrong with you (wow heard that one) but I just dont feel it is right." Now just picture me on the other end trying desperatly not to just burst out in extreme laughter. SERIOUSLY?!? Unless I missed some mormon symbolism im sure a cupcake doesn't mean marry me for time and all eternity. Heaven forbid I acutally make it to a thrid date, that means I am going to marry the man. So with the spirit working againts me and my true roots as satans spawn comes out, my dating life dwindles in unbelief.

College Update 12

So I just finished another semester of what is supposedly making me smarter…college! This semester I am glad is over! For those of you who have taken Organic Chemistry or insanely decided to major in it, I feel for you. OChem has been deemed the most time consuming class and the largest pain in the A**. One semester down and one more to go! Nutrition was fabulous, and big bang swing ended with no calamities. Math is…math. US history ended up actually being a good class, I learned that there is a cycle in all things. Prosperity to poverty back to prosperity, I wonder what end of the curve we are currently on…

Ode to those who survive Finals

When the Christmas music starts, snow usually falls (Logan had been mild, weird), one starts to think of the great holiday that is just around the corner. But in order to reach the actualization of this holiday one must first step over the hurdle that is FINALS! When your life is at stake because you never know who is going to snap at the library next, you must always remember that this is a blip in the eternal perspective. With everyone basically wanting nothing more that to actually get a decent nights sleep it is no wonder that so many students are sick, fatigued, and if Hollywood were to stop by possibly possessed. I have found the key to survival of this insane week is ....chocolate... lots and lots of chocolate.
